Wood & Laminate from Design Flooring
Once fitted both engineered wood and laminate flooring appear to look very similar in design.
The fitting process is usually similar for both products; the planks click together onto an underlay and they both need an expansion gap at the edges. The expansion gap can then be covered either with matching beading which runs along the edge of the skirting, or brand new skirting.
A wood flooring has a wonderful feel and some amazing natural colours and textures that add a real warmth to the home.
It doesn't give the house a hollow sound, it doesn't trap dust, mites or pollen - particularly good for allergy sufferers and It has a long life as it can be refinished rather than needing replacing.
Wood can expand and contract in moist and humid envrionments, so it is not usually recommended for areas like bathrooms, as an alternative many of our customers opt for a laminate flooring which has been treated so that it can withstand more moisture.
If you would like a wood effect floor, but not necessarily a real wood or laminate floor then perhaps a wood effect vinyl is more suitable for you.
Laminate flooring has improved greatly in recent years with so many colour options and styles available; from light beech to very realistic oak board even authentic tiles are now available.
We are a certified Quick Step retailer. The Quick Step laminates that we supply carry a manufacturer's guarantee from 15-25 years, so it's far from being a cheap short-term option.
The benefits of laminate include that they are: Wear resistant, Durable, Practical and a more affordable alternative to real wood.
