Natural Fibre Carpet
At Design Flooring Cirencester we are proud to supply alternative natural fibre carpets from Fibre Flooring and Kersaint Cobb .
The seagrass fibres are hand-picked from coastal meadows in Asia before being woven into carpet. The weaves themselves make a real impact with styles such as basket-weave and Herringbone being really striking. As other natural floor coverings, this material is hard-wearing and is suitable for all main living areas of the home including halls and stairways.
These carpets have a rougher texture than traditional carpets, so may not suit every room in your house depending on your circumstances.
The fabulous weave styles of Sisal carpets make it a real fashion favourite, though it's equally suited to use in new homes or period cottages. Whilst it's extremely stylish, it has a coarser surface than traditional carpet, so depending on your lifestyle it may not be suitable.
Coir - made from the husk fibres of Indian coconuts which are grown for 12 months, hand-picked then softened in sea-water for 10 months, cleaned then dried before the weaving process can begin.
The gorgeous golden and bronze colours are the epitome of natural flooring. It does have a rough texture to it so it's perhaps not suitable if you have young children crawling around the floor. It's also a tad rough under bare feet. Coir is one of the harder-wearing natural carpets and is generally lower-maintenance.
